Walking beneath the decorative arches of the Alhambra Palace in Granada was arguably one of the most memorable experiences of my life. For years I had dreamed and wished to get there and explore the Nasrid Palaces and see the places so often imagined in my mind while reading historical fiction. The stories of the Moors and the both hostile and passive take overs by the Christians Ferdanand & Isabella of Castile and Aragon.
When first composing the fragrance Tantomonta (spanish translation:" They amount to the same, the same they amount to" meaning the King and Queen were as equals) I was cognisant that majority of the architecture, customs and creativity was credited to the Moors reign rather than that of the Christian monarchy which came after. With that in mind, I created a concept that was based in the history of the Moors, with their Musks, and Oud which was commonly used in their customs and rituals, and to that added scents from the palace grounds themselves: Orange Blossom, Lavender and a myriad of different woods and resins.
The fragrance that evolved was both deep and sensual, while being fresh and sweet. An addition to our series which is completely different and alluring just like the palace it is inspired by.
